-The Samurai Code

The Samurai Code

The Samurai code can be followed in anyone’s normal dealings, they can be made a code of conduct for any person seeking an honorable way to run one’s life. I personally try to incorporate this code of conduct into my lifestyle, and it makes me all the better for it.

Politeness and Courtesy: One doesn’t need to prove their strength. A person should be courteous even to his enemies. Without this outward show of respect, we are nothing more than animals. A show of cruelty brings dishonor to yourself and your enemy.

Honor: You can only judge yourself when it comes to honor; the decisions you make and how they are carried out are a reflection of yourself. Stick to your guns no matter the circumstances.

Honesty and Justice: Honesty and justice go hand in hand, to be truly honest; justice can’t be a grey issue and vice versa. Believe in justice not from other people but from yourself and keep honest in dealings with all people.

Dauntless Courage: Don’t be afraid to act, hiding isn’t living at all. The risk and danger involved is worth taking to live a complete and wonderful life.

Duty and Loyalty : A man, having done "something" or said "something," knows he owns that "thing." He is responsible for it, and all the consequences that follow. A samurai is immensely loyal to those in his care. To those he is responsible for, he remains fiercely true.

Complete Sincerity : When a man has said he will perform an action, it is as good as done. Nothing should stop him from completing what he has said he will do. He does not have to "Give his word." He does not have to "promise." Speaking and doing are the same action.

Compassion : Through intense training a man will become quick and strong. He should not be as other men. He should develop skills to be useful to the whole of the community. He has compassion. He helps his fellow man at every opportunity. If an opportunity does not arise, he goes out of his way to find one.
